Street Food
Local meat (mainly beef) is sold from a table in the village - this is much cheaper and better quality than imported frozen meat from the USA.
The best food is on the streets in Barbuda; at the school before break time you can buy snacks like bread pudding, meatballs and patties. There will usually be fried fish and johnny cakes outside Green Door on a Friday or Saturday evening, Wanda selling chicken and burgers, the Block Club breakfasts or a coal pot cook-up “dubbin'” of some sort.
Some of it can be ordered if you ask in a bar or restaurant the day before although real Barbudan specialities like land turtle, deer meat, crabs and conchs are harder to find, so if you are there at the right time - you are in luck! Camp-outs are the best places to eat a piece of fresh caught barracuda, a plate of deer meat and season rice or soldier crab fungi.
Most Barbudan food is sold early in the day and done by the afternoon so don't miss out by looking too late!

Local Drinks
We make a lot of fruit punches and other local drinks like soursop and passion fruit, there is fresh coconut water and the bars all serve local beers Wadadali and Carib as well as Heineken or whatever else is available. Antigua produces its own rum - Cavalier - and we can make most cocktails, as long as they have rum in them, for about a quarter of the price of a hotel.
