We're still waiting...

Residents have been told they will have to wait even longer for work to continue on the delayed Justice Complex on Barbuda. In addition the half-finished complex to house the Magistrate's Court and Police Station will now be on one floor instead of two. The heavy showers caused by the passage of Tropical Storm Rafael brought to the fore the perennial problem of flooding at the current police station, in spite of months of work to improve the building. Currently six of the seven police officers are off work due to illnesses which include 'headaches, sickness and colds.' None of the police officers stationed in Barbuda are Barbudan.

Director of Public Works, Lucine Hanley, toured the area last week and visited the River dock where work on a new facility should begin soon. It will cost an estimated EC$2.9 million, and will be funded through a loan negotiated between the Antigua and Barbuda Port Authority and the Finance and Development Corporation.

Now, it's been too long.
Too long, too long in slavery.
Free the people and let them move in liberty
Now, it's been too long.
Too long, too long in slavery.
So the struggle continue.
But while the struggle continue, I'm going to tell you.
We rastaman will set the world free...
