Claire specialises in hand-painted silk pictures and cards. This unique work comes straight from the Caribbean where vibrant colours and the luxury of silk combine to great effect. Silk painting is a technique similar to batik. Hot wax is used to draw a picture and gold and silver gutta adds to the decoration. Once the wax is set the colours are painted in. Then the wax is ironed out. The pictures and cards are mounted on quality card or matte board or framed by a local frame-maker who creates beautiful hand-made frames to suit each individual picture.
