naming guidelines

  • A street name should be appropriate and easy to read. Children may need to use the name in an emergency.
  • Names should be easy to pronounce and to spell. Use words with three, or fewer, syllables.
  • Avoid potentially offensive names, for example slang or words with double meanings.
  • Street names should not begin with "the".
  • Avoid hyphens, apostrophes, and dashes.
