barbudaful.net is a new web site which features Barbuda. It is being designed by Lesley Watkins, who is doing the technical design and writing content, and Claire Frank who is writing content and dealing with administration. Other people will contribute in different ways.
The web site originated in an idea we had that Barbuda should have its own web site where visitors, Barbudans overseas, tourists, and other interested people could go to find information about the island.
This is a community web site where anyone who is in business or who wishes to be involved will take part. We hope that Barbudans around the world will visit barbudaful.net to catch up on news from home. The web site shows Barbuda as the lively and enterprising place that it is. We include information on the history and geography of the island, facts and figures about Barbuda, and places of interest. We have much-needed pages for visitors to find accommodation, transport, food, and so on...
We invite anyone in Barbuda to add their details to the site. There are charges for this service to cover the costs of launching and maintaining the web site on the Internet. A rate of EC$50 (US$19) per year applies to Barbudans resident on the island and EC$100 (US$38) to Barbudans resident overseas. Other advertisers we accept pay the full commercial rate of US$120 per entry per year. We have special rates for anyone who would like their own page.
We are asking if you would be interested in participating in this venture; contributions from Barbudans overseas are especially welcome. Details of upcoming events or activities, for example family reunions, anywhere in the world will be advertised free on our community news page. For those making a living from tourism barbudaful.net is an excellent way to advertise to the world, to have customers come directly to you by phone or by email.
The information you provide will be included under different headings, these are -

Claire Frank and Lesley Watkins wish to thank the following people.
This web site is hosted by Graham Talbot at Turquoise Net; a travel site for the Caribbean, Central America, and beyond. Graham has featured Barbuda on http://www.turq.com for over five years.
We are proud of the photographs on barbudaful.net. All photos can be identified by passing the mouse over the image. They have been taken by amateurs and professionals who have visited Barbuda or live here, namely Chris Doyle, Robert Dyball, Claire Frank, Fiona Jack, Fabio Pettinari, Mohammed Walbrook, and Mark Williams. We welcome photographs from visitors and Barbudans. The photographs need to have strong contrast as they are reduced in size considerably and should be copied to a CD.
Chris Doyle is an international yachtsman and writer. Chris is a resident of Grenada and has been sailing in the Caribbean for over 30 years. He is the author of The Cruising Guide to the Leeward Islands, which features information about Barbuda for sailors. Chris contributes articles to Caribbean Compass, the Caribbean's on–line monthly marine magazine, while he has his own web site at http://www.DoyleCaribbean.com.
Robert Dyball is a farmer in England. Every year Robert and his family visit his sister, who lives in Barbuda. They stay at the Carriage House.
Fiona Jack is an artist and photographer, who visited Barbuda in May 2003. She has published her beautiful photos in many international magazines and travel guides. For more information contact Fiona Jack herself and visit her web site at www.fionajack.co.uk.
Fabio Pettinari is a fashion photographer from Milan. He covers the haute couture shows in Paris, London, and Milan. Fabio came to Barbuda several years ago to photograph the Palmetto Hotel. He has contributed to the lifestyle magazine Conde Nast Traveller.
Mohammed Walbrook is a Barbudan photographer. He became interested in photography while a student at the Holy Trinity School. He is working on a book of photographs of Barbuda and compiling a photographic archive of the island.
Mark Williams and his family came to Barbuda for a week in 2002. They stayed at the Carriage House, hired a vehicle, and took many interesting photos.
Claire is one of two partners in barbudaful.net. Claire is a writer, who has contributed articles about Barbuda to various Caribbean websites. She is also an artist; view her work on the artcafe page. Claire has taken many of the photographs for barbudaful.net. Claire moved to England in July 2004, but still maintains an interest in this website.
Lesley is one of two partners in this website. After Lesley gained a masters degree from London University, she worked in publishing in England and as a teacher in Barbuda. A few years ago Lesley took a diploma in computing with Oxford University and is now a writer and the designer of barbudaful.net.
